Overview
After a member's email returns enough consecutively bounced emails their account is placed on "hold". Although you can modify the Bounce Limit that controls this action, the members' accounts will still be held and you would like to return them to "normal".
Prerequisites
- Running Lyris LM version 9.3 or higher on-premise
- You are an Administrator of your Lyris LM instance
NOTE: This solution applies only to on-premise customers. Hosted customers cannot perform this operation because they do not have access to Security under Server Settings. Customers who are hosted must contact Support for assistance.
Solution
To update members' records from held to normal status, Create a CSV of Members on Hold, Modify the Held Members CSV File, and Import the Modified Held Members CSV File to ListManager.
Create a CSV of Members on Hold
- Log on to Lyris LM as an Administrator
- Navigate to Members > View Members
- Click the dropdown dialog box above the list of members and select the "Show: held (bad email addresses)" option. This will return a list of held members
- Export the held members by clicking the Excel icon in the top right corner of the interface
- Save the file as a CSV file
Modify the Held Members CSV File
- Open the CSV file you created from the previous section
- Delete the rows of any members that you do not want to return to "normal" status
- Delete all of the columns except the
EmailAddr_
andMemberType_
columns - Change the
MemberType_
field fromheld
tonormal
for all members - Save the file
Import the Modified Held Members CSV File
- Log on to Lyris LM as an Administrator
- Navigate to Utilities > Administration > Server > Server Settings > Security
- Ensure that "CSV member imports can change non-normal status" is set to "yes"
- Navigate to Members > Add Members > Import Members from CSV File
- Action: Use type setting in CSV file
- Update existing members? is set to "yes"
- Browse to the Modified Held Members CSV file
- Click "Import" to update the member records
A confirmation message will be displayed indicating the import process is in progress.
Testing
- Log on to Lyris LM as an Administrator
- Navigate to Members > View Members
- Click the dropdown dialog box above the list of members and select the "Show: held (bad email addresses)" option. This will return a list of held members
The members that were changed from held to normal do not appear in the list.
